Newsletter No.4
We have been busy working on our next print issue, but we found time to quiz travel guru Gina Jackson, and we checked in to Cliveden House to try out a treatment with sought-after facialist Teresa Tarmey.
Well Quick Questions
This month travel writer Gina Jackson answers our Well Quick Questions. Gina is a published author and photographer (her books ‘British Boutique Hotels’, and ‘London Hotels’, both published by Hoxton Mini Press, are available to purchase here).
Well Read - a book you’ve enjoyed recently
Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi—her first book, 'Homegoing'—was one of my favourite books that I read last year, and this one is also excellent.
Well Worn - an item of clothing you wear again and again
In this cold weather, I'm bundling up in my favourite coats. Two of my most worn coats are from Nanushka, and I get a lot of use out of them every year: one is a big black puffer jacket, and the other is a houndstooth wool coat. Both look great thrown on top of any outfit!
Well Nourished - a recipe or restaurant for a great plate of food
Maison Francois is one of my favourite restaurants at the moment. Go for delicious, classic French food and, of course, their incredible dessert trolley.
Well Beautiful - a hair, makeup, or skincare product that makes you feel good
I'm a Beauty Pie obsessive, and their Japanfusion Moisture Mask is a lifesaver. It’s the perfect hydrating mask for dry skin (especially in cold weather) and is super nourishing while still being lightweight.
Well Being - a ritual that has kept its place in your routine
I always start my day with a homemade matcha latte—I almost can't function without it! I sometimes even bring matcha on holiday with me.
Well Shopped - a second-hand shop for hidden treasures
I find most of my preloved goodies via Vestiaire Collective and Depop, but I always pop into the second-hand shop Rites on Broadway Market whenever I'm there.
Well Fit - a workout that works for you
Heartcore's Reformer Pilates is my go-to workout class; I don't really do much working out besides pilates!
Well Travelled - where is on your wish list
I have an endless list of bucket-list destinations I want to visit, but Sri Lanka, India, and Australia are right at the top of my wish list.
Well Packed - what can’t you travel without
Several things: my phone (for obvious reasons), my AirPods (I can't sit on a plane or train without music), my steamer (I can't stand crinkled clothes), and sunscreen (I need to protect my skin!).
Well Heard - a podcast worth tuning in to
I don't listen to many podcasts, but I've just started tuning into Jules Perowne's Unpacked, which is a brand new podcast. As a travel lover, I love hearing about all kinds of wonderful destinations around the globe from some of the most acclaimed travel insiders.
Well Reported
Well Curated co-founder Camilla checked in to Cliveden House to experience their new spa offering from facialist Teresa Tarmey.
This month, luxury country house hotel and spa Cliveden House unveiled a new spa residency with renowned skin expert and super-facialist Teresa Tarmey.
I’ve been considering target treatments for a while now, and Teresa’s name is always at the top of the recommendation list. With 26 years in the industry, she is one of the world's most sought-after and trusted skincare experts. Her focus on results-driven skin rejuvenation has inspired her treatment hallmarks: laser and microneedling. I was fortunate enough to visit Cliveden House to experience just how effective Teresa’s techniques are.
Like most of us, I have far more confidence in my skin in the summer months. The irony is that my love for the life-spent-outdoors look worsens the skin concerns that leave me feeling less confident when my tan fades. Teresa focused on the pigmentation and capillaries that I am more conscious of at this time of year, and by clearing up my complexion, she has made me feel as though I can enjoy my bare-faced look in winter as well as summer. If you’re interested in booking a laser treatment with Teresa, it is worth remembering that there is a bit of downtime afterwards—nothing major, just a few brown marks that disappear after 4-5 days. But let’s face it, Clivenden House is a pretty idyllic place to enjoy some downtime!
Well Tested
It’s not often that new products make it into our routines, but recently we’ve found some new favourites that are here to stay.
We were sceptical about this, but it’s so good! The consistency is really runny, but as soon as you press it in, it adds an extra level of hydration and leaves skin far more radiant than you first imagined.
Active Recovery Broth by REOME
Just like a winter broth, it’s packed full of restorative ingredients and soothes sensitive skin in just a few uses. The Three Suns Cleansing Balm is just as gentle, and the scent (which reminds us of a Le Labo fragrance) makes cleansing so much more enjoyable.
What The Foundation by Jones Road
We’re all about good skincare over makeup, which is why we love this so much. The balmy formula gives a really dewy finish, and although it feels like a tinted moisturiser, it gives a bit of extra coverage to even out skin tone.
Satin Kajal Liner by Victoria Beckham Beauty
We’re a bit late to party on these, but they really are as good as everyone says. They’re soft so glide on and smudge easily for a smokey eye. Cacao is our go-to shade, but we’re tempted to try Bordeaux for something a bit different.
