Well Nourished | Overnight Oats
Since discovering Den Sorte Havre Black Oats we have been hooked on overnight oats and porridge. Grown and packaged by a small family run farm in Norway, this super-oat has over 40% more healthy unsaturated fatty acids than the standard white oats. That makes it both more healthy and tasty than regular white oats. Black oats are also more resistant to disease, they do not require treatment with pesticides, which results in cleaner products than regular oats. We will be adding lots more oat-y recipes over the coming months but we thought we would start with a simple one that only requires a small shopping list!
Method
The night before you plan to enjoy your oats, mix together 1/2 cup whole rolled oats and 1/2 cup milk. We typically use oat or almond milk, but coconut milk, soy milk, or cow’s milk would also work. Then, add a handful of pomegranate seeds. Stir to combine.
Refrigerate the mixture overnight in an airtight container.
In the morning they’re be ready to eat hot or cold. As temperatures have dropped we have been warming ours in a saucepan for a more comforting start to the day.
Transfer the oats to a bowl and top with whatever is in the cupboard, we went for toasted almond flakes, pumpkin seeds, blueberries and almond butter.
