Well Worn | Staycation

If you’re having to trade jetting off for some winter sun for a holiday at home we have rounded up some of the best sustainable brands to stick in your suitcase. Having visited Chalet Saunton on the North coast of Devon for our shoot we decided a staycation can do wonders for your wellbeing, from outdoor adventures in the fresh air to secluded accommodation just steps from the beach, we definitely didn’t miss the crowds at the airport.

Trips to Devon are usually associated with a windswept tent, and whilst camping hasn’t totally lost its appeal there is an alternative way to enjoy the coastline. Chalet Saunton embodies ‘the new escape’ so many of us are craving. The seven spacious apartments have been designed to a level of luxury that you would associate with a top hotel, however the nature of this self-catered accommodation offers the seclusion from other guests that has become a priority for so many of us. The minimalist interiors and warm light that filters through the floor-to-ceiling windows immediately instil a sense of calm, not to mention the magnificent marble bathrooms, complete with Ila Apothecary candles. The beach which stretches for three miles from the foot of the Chalet grounds is regarded as the best location for learning to surf in North Devon. With direct access to the South West Coastal Path days should be spent exploring the area, before reclining in the roll top bath.

Thunders Love socks are designed in a little village in the North West of Spain and produced in small family workshops by Hosier’s who have been doing this throughout three generations.

Thunders Love work with cotton recycled in Spain, with offcuts coming from the textile industry. In order to make this type of cotton, chemical products like chlorine and other aggressive agents for the environment are not needed since the colours are created without any process of dyeing. Usually while harvesting and processing a lot of water is used, however, the recycled cotton doesn’t need any.

The CHARLIE COLLECTION is made from a careful selection of recycled blend cotton. A mixture technique combines multicolour yarns to create different chromatic combinations and unique styles.

Recycling wool can be a challenge as the fibres can be too short to respin.
