Well Quick Questions
Kate co-founded Well Curated alongside Camilla in 2020. After working as a fashion photographer for many years, she saw the growing need for a lifestyle publication with a focus on wellbeing for the mind, body, and planet. Passionate about health, Kate also trained as a yoga instructor and occasionally teaches alongside her work with Well Curated and photography. Here she shares her answers to our quick questions.
Well Nourished - a recipe or restaurant for a great plate of food
This time of year it’s all about turmeric. After the overindulgence of the festive period and the increase in sugar and alcohol, most of us are suffering from inflammation. Turmeric is brilliant for combating this. I like to grate fresh turmeric into porridge and whip up dahl packed with turmeric, ginger, and garlic. I also prepare a big batch of turmeric and ginger tonic at the start of each week. I keep it in the fridge, then just add hot water, lemon, Manuka honey, and Himalayan salt.
Well Read - a book you’ve enjoyed recently
I’m dipping in and out of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius; we tend to lean towards the east for meditations, but he was one of the great master philosophers and provides some insightful musings on a life well lived.
Well Beautiful - a hair, makeup, or skincare product that makes you feel good
I always add Ancient + Brave Collagen to my coffee in the morning, it’s one thing I know I can do without fail.
Well Being - a ritual that has kept its place in your routine
I’m making a real effort to get outside first thing in the morning for a brisk walk and some natural light. It’s not easy in the northern hemisphere, especially in England, where we’re often under a blanket of wet cloud. Still, even light filtered through clouds helps regulate melatonin production, which supports the sleep cycle, providing energy for the day, and better sleep at night. Even a quick walk around the block combined with some deep breathing makes a difference—it wakes me up and stops me from crawling back into bed.
Well Shopped - a second-hand shop for hidden treasures
I’m a huge lover of Vinted. The circular fashion revolution is well underway, and I think platforms like Vinted and The Cirkel are doing brilliant things to cover a wide range of price points. I just bought a Marant fleece for a bargain price and haven’t taken it off.
Well Fit - a workout that works for you
Right now, I’m practicing a lot of reformer Pilates, but also working on a yoga class incorporating bands. I’ll put a video up sometime soon.
Well Travelled - where you go to feel well
For me, it’s always going to be Costa Rica. There are so many benefits to immersing yourself in a blue zone. I highly recommend Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort to anyone that hasn’t been.
Well Heard - a podcast worth tuning in to
I actually just listened to Jamie Lang’s interview with Tim Spector, which I really enjoyed. I think Jaime is a great presenter. Everything can get a bit earnest, so I appreciated his fun, light-hearted approach.
